overthrowing the old me, one desert at a time.

Between 11 and 3......

......stay under the tree.

Well, not quite if you have to train for a race in the Namib desert.

I've trained my brain to ignore the heat, and just run.
So it's hot, deal with it!

But why is it so difficult to remember to put on sunblock?
It's not rocket science.

On Saturday I treated myself to a long run in the Jonkershoek mountains.
Judging by my sunburnt arms and legs, it must have been hot.
Rooky mistake!

But on Sunday I was clever.....or so I thought.
Decided to wear a long sleeve top for my "flat and sandy" training session.
Note to self: hands do get sunburnt!
Rooky mistake!

Except for a little sunburn, it was a perfect training weekend.

My new Inov-8's behaved themselves - and happy to report that they are good to go on a single track or on the beach.

Desert Time Again

Wow, how time flies!

Almost time for The Namib Desert Challenge - I'm going back for round 2!
Had so much fun the first time.....OK fun might not really be the right word....

It's weird how you forget about the blistered feet, sore legs, sore back - well, sore everything!

All I can think about, is that SUPER HUGE sense of accomplishment!

At the end of those five days - I was finished - EXHAUSTED.
But I've never ever felt that good!

Running is my mental "CTRL+ALT+DELETE"
